When Mama is just too sick and tired

The toddler can pretty much get away with anything, including playing with a plastic bag, eating whole grapes, and lying about stealing them out of the grocery bags still sitting on the kitchen floor.

Lindsay at 19 months

I translate a bit in the beginning, my voice sounds a bit hoarse - I'm just over the stomach flu. You get some pan shots of the state of my living room after ignoring benignly neglecting her for about an hour. In the end of the video, she's saying, "Mine. My grapes. Yummy." I particularly like how she retrieves the grape stem out of her mouth and puts it back into the bag...

Ross is standing here laughing his head off. He began to be a bit incredulous when Lin was waving the plastic bag around, then enjoyed her bumpy decent from the chair, but the grapes rolling across the floor at the end really did him in.

+1 WMP for filming your child playing with a plastic bag even though I'm waffling on this because that bag does not appear to be labeled about children not playing with it, so it might be ok.

+1 WMP for letting Lin smash grapes in the living room. (+2 if you buy her a book on wine making and plant some concord vines in the yard.)

Two point post! Not bad for someone who spent most of the week getting reacquainted with the bathroom.

I briefly considered a game of "squash the grape" because little smooshed grapes on the floor are better than moldy ones under chairs and sofas. In the time it took me to change the batteries in my camera (the dv is a real battery killer), they were gone. She'd hoovered 'em up.

The bag, natch, has written "Warning: To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this plastic bag away from babies and children. Do not use in cribs, beds carriages or playpens. The thin film may cling to nose and mouth and prevent breathing. This bag is not a toy. Discard bag and any other packing materials immediately after removing product. Do not re-use this bag." in 3 languages.

I concur, this is a two pointer. I am still snickering at the bags labeling. I think she was probably pretty safe with it though seeing as you were videotaping her. But her and the bag of grapes on the floor...that's some funny - cute! but funny - stuff.

My favorite warning label these days is the one that comes on large, plastic containers. It's a yellow sticker with a silhouette of a child inside the container and the cover about to enclose the wee one, all inside a circle with a line through it. Every time I see it I think "Well damn, now I have to find a DIFFERENT container in which to keep my kid fresh".

Anyway, did the grapes have seeds? I'd give more points for that.
