Warning: Worst Mothering Ahead

Someone has carved his brother's name into my new dining room table. When someone realized that his handiwork could not be erased, he was responsible enough to show me the damage himself, so you need not make plans to attend his funeral just yet but I'm thinking someone will not be going trick-or-treating this year.

omg -that kid is lucky to be alive. I was just about to beat the tar out of my middle son for coloring on my hardwood floor (which needs to be refinished anyway and is nowhere near as beautiful as your table). But then I realized he had used a washable crayon so I made him scrub it up down on his hands and knees with a rag.

Oh no no no. It was kind of you not to indicate which boy was the culprit. I think the fact that he is still standing shows amazing parenting restraint. It was such a pretty table. I guess it still is, it just has character now.

OH my! That's not the first time, as I recall, that someone has missed trick or treating in your household, is it?

Even better, you could let him trick or treat, then make him sell all of his candy to pay for a new table. And probably some of his toys.

well. on hgtv they have this show where people move into old houses and find and discover all about the people who lived there. they find photos, passageways, old artifacts, love notes, etc. and solve the "mystery" of their home and share with the viewers. maybe your table could go on that show. once there were young brothers who lived here...maybe the name will help the owner "solve" the mystery of who once lived in your house :) at least it might make for a funny "moooooooooooooooom" story in 20 years! lol...
